Digest no. 15: On Power Balance

Dear readers,

As the academic year has begun, we hope you warmly welcome our new team, with their first articles and columns on the Diplomatic Digest. We are living through crucial political moments, where the world around us is quickly changing. During these uncertain times something in the balance is shifting and the world as we know it might cease to exist. While this new era is approaching us like a wave to the shore, we observe these not so small changes that are reshaping what we know of the political order.

In this issue of the Diplomatic Digest, our contributors will take you from Congo to Iran passing through the European Union. Eleonora Monti explores the Ebola outbreak in Congo and how it has become a territorial and diplomatic issue. Nicolò Paganelli reflects on the EU’s accession model and focuses on the case of Orban’s Hungary. Fardokht Afsari Kashani focuses on the lack of Senate approval regarding the war in Iran. Giulia Diurni goes over the right to housing, with the huge protest that happened in Madrid. Sofia Giandomenico wonders whether the newfound alliance between Canada and the EU has something to do with the US. In our columns, Bariş Sonmez talks about the upcoming COP31, questioning if diplomacy has any type of impact on climate change. Tommaso De Benedetti displays the war economics that the US is sustaining against Iran.

Wishing you an enjoyable read,

Your Editors-in-Chief,
